"Perhaps because of the noisy nature of the production process they are located in the south side of the encircling ring architecture." (Bakersmith Report, 2015, p.37)

Video Chart: Multimedia Toolbench

This comparison table covers four major categories of digital video software tools. The first categories represent a form of video creation or input: webcam, video-conferencing over the Internet and screen movie recorders (making a digital movie of actions and events on the computer screen). For manipulation, video editors serve as means of already recorded video, allowing the composer to delete, cut, copy and paste. Software for output provides different forms of video-streaming over the Internet, DVD and systems for automated archiving and retrieval.

    Video-Streaming

Streaming media provides a way to send in real-time, audio, video and other multimedia, with no download wait, over the Internet or corporate intranets. Older web server still allows this multimedia to be sent as files which can be played over and over, just like web pages with images, but the entire multimedia file must have been transmitted before it could be used.

    Video Archiving

Video archiving began as a simple database with fields that could contain digital video files. Current offerings provide numerous automated services. For example, as the video is played into the system, it breaks the audio into separate files for each clip or scene, digitizes the audio associated with the video for that clip and converts it to text and associates the pieces so that a search of the text with find the video. An editor can then reassemble these pieces to create additional video works that are also stored.  Viewers will be able to search the entire video archive which will automatically play the low-quality web at different transmission rates or use the video for high quality professional broadcast.

    DVD Authoring

Digital video can also be stored on DVDs (digital versatile discs or digital video discs). Specialized software converts the digital video into DVD format for use in DVD players. A specialized form is called WebDVD or Enhanced DVD which take advantage of the high speed access to video on DVD from a web page and access to the rest of the Internet within the same window.

    SMIL

http://www.w3.org/AudioVideo/ The Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (SMIL, pronounced "smile") enables simple authoring of interactive audiovisual presentations. SMIL is typically used for "rich media"/multimedia presentations which integrate streaming audio and video with images, text or any other media type. SMIL is an easy-to-learn HTML-like language, and many SMIL presentations are written using a simple text-editor.

    Examples:

    DVD

Some 37 different companies offer DVD authoring software programs.

    WebDVD

In January, 1999, Microsoft released the WebDVD interface which provides for interconnected between web pages and DVD. It has gone through several updates since this time.

    Laserdiscs

Laserdisc production, 30 to 60 minutes on a large format disc, ceased in 1999 in the U.S. and ended completely in 2001 in Japan. Some titles have become collector items and others have been very cheap as DVDs have replaced most titles. DVD generally is a better way to go than laserdiscs.
