MultiMedia Education
"I come to the conclusion that the gift of
fantasy has meant
more to me than my talent for absorbing positive knowledge." An interview by Sylvester Viereck, The Saturday Evening Post, 1929. |
Albert Einstein |
"The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the
rational mind
is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the
servant
and has forgotten the gift." |
Course Info. Cover page: WebCam:
Planet Arrakimm.
The imaginative cover page points to the future direction of this
course as the bandwidth of the Internet increases. The web site design
will increasingly use multimedia elements, with component of the course
represented as spaces within a larger environment. Eventually it is
projected that this course will have a strong virtual reality and 3-D
construct that incorporates the full range of media available to
current computers. That work will go on as the course is taught. In introducing
a comprehensive range of 21st century composition and reading options,
participants will make it once around Bruner's
spiral. That is, participants build an online digital composition that
increasingly integrates text and frame pages, still images, video, music and
audio, animation, 3D and virtual reality, and sensors and remote control.
Facilities
Sub-sections
Design Center
"Their design center appears to be deeply embedded into the
planetary
core. Not only is it observeably connected with the surface "kitchen"
area
but there are likely underground links to the functions of sites within
the encircling ring architecture which is partially buried in the
sand."
(Bakersmith Report, 2015, p.7)
The design center addresses concepts, models and other
design
guidelines.
Kitchen
"Their capacity to control gravity made this outdoor kitchen
possible.
Numerous flowing streams, absence of bugs and moderated temperatures
made
this an ideal gravitationally suspended kitchen. This area appears to
have
been heavily used for meetings, dialog and recreation." (Bakersmith
Report,
2015, p.16)
The "Kitchen" is the place for dialog, interaction and
calendar
and priority setting.
Forms

course.

The Multimedia Library
"Their mobile satellite library appears to be space worthy and its
purpose
is apparently to accompany project teams operating in remote sites
anywhere
on the planet or off. A small red-white surface object plays some kind
of transportation role between the floating library and the design
center."
(Bakersmith Report, 2015, p.24)
The terms multimedia and unimedia are used synonymously in this
text. Together they represent a comprehensive form of communication using many
different media in the same composition. The multimedia library section provides access to brains (people and
organizations);
shelves (books and other resources stored on them) and drives (the hard
drives of the Internet).
