Acquaintances

Who can you call? Who do you know well enough to pick up the phone and call or stop by their office or home for a chat? Among this group are friends, acquaintances, neighbors, teachers and colleagues. Though these people may not have the most in-depth expertise, they are your experts, the people you go to first for most of your questions. They are motivational starting points in reaching outside your own personal knowledge. They are motivational in part when you feel safe in voicing your questions in their presence. They can serve as a springboard to asking other people and using the other search systems of the information pyramid.

Sometimes these contacts are carried around in our heads while others use a rolodex, address book or contacts database to keep more extensive lists of people and how they might be contacted.
