Try this experimental way to review the ideas in the "Operating Systems" article, a method based on Paivio's dual coding theory.
- Hotspot-linked Flashcards. When a picture appears to the left, ask yourself if you understand what ideas the picture represents. If not, a click in the bottom half of the image jumps to the explanation of the icons in the text in the main window; a click in the top left or right of the image goes to the previous or next image.
- Auto-Flashcard review. For a quicker review, images change every two seconds; search manually for more data.
- Clear top frame.
Questions to consider:
Is manual forwarding with a direct review link better than automatic advance for the initial review of the material?
Is the 2 second delay long enough to determine whether you can recall the idea associated with the image? Does having to manually skim the reading to find out the key ideas related to an image cause more mental exercise and therefore better recall?
